The Meghalaya Revenue and Disaster Department has issued alert in the Garo hills district and urged the authorities to take necessary action in view of release of excessive water by China from its dams.

Joint Secretary of Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority, I. Mawlong in a notification has issued flood warning in West Garo hills, North Garo hills and South West Garo hills.

Meanwhile, release of excessive water by China from its dams has escalated apprehensions of calamity in Meghalaya too after Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
