Sikkim has a new tourism policy and this was declared by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on August 15.
Yesterday, the Sikkim state tourism department highlighted its main features in front of the media.
Talking to the media, tourism department secretary CP Dhakal said that the reason for coming up with the policy is that every year tourists face issues in the peak season with the unavailability of taxis and vehicles and other issues as well.
The new policy aims to address the issues while also identifying the strong points that make further the cause of tourism in Sikkim.
Dhakal also said that the policy has focused mainly on conventional leisure based tourism, nature based tourism or ecotourism and adventure based tourism among other specific aspects of the state’s tourism sector.
