Just days after Northeast Live aired an exclusive Ground Zero Report about the plight of people residing near the Indian Army’s Ballai-liang firing range near Loi-liang village in Tezu of Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district.
The Army today along with Lohit Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki and Lohit Superintendent of Police DW Thongon visited the area and took stock of the Ground situation.
The Army spoke to the locals and took stock of the situation prevailing in the area.
Meanwhile, Lohit District Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki has written to the Army’s Brigade Commander in Tezu stating that the death of a resident of Loilang village on August 9 and grievous injuries to his son while going to an agricultural field due to sudden explosion of live mortar shell near the firing range, has resulted in great resentment and anger among the villagers.
The Deputy Commissioner in the letter further stated that the villagers of the area recovered live mortar shells from the river bed of Tabang Nallah that flows across the Indian Army’s Ballailiang firing range.
