The members of Mizo Zarlai Pawl (MZP) have apprehended and pushed back 20 suspected foreigners to Assam.
In a clean drive operation carried out by the influential Students’ Union, 20 suspected illegal migrants whose names were reportedly left out of the final draft NRC in Assam were apprehended from different places in Mizoram.
Of the 20 apprehended, 4 were apprehended from the State’s Capital Aizawl and the remaining 16 were held from Vai-rengte near the Assam border.
Earlier the students’ body had asked the state government to beef up security along the Assam-Mizoram Inter-State Border to curb possible entry of illegal migrants from Assam following publication of the final draft NRC.
The student body has also said that it will conduct checking across Mizoram to ascertain as to how many people have entered the state without ILP.
The MZP will also set up infiltration check gates along the inter-state border to curb influx form Assam.
Meanwhile, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district 30 ILP violators were apprehended and were pushed back to Assam by the Longding District Students’ Union.
The ILP violators were detected during Operation Clean Drive carried out by the Longding District Students’ Union.
