Wrestler Vinesh Phogat wins historic women’s gold, she beat Japan’s Yuki Irie in the summit clash.

Vinesh Phogat bags the second gold for the country in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling event.

Vinesh defeated Yuki 6-2 in the 50 kg category to bag the top prize and take India’s tally of gold medals to two at the 18th edition of the Asian Games in Indonesia.

With the win, Vinesh became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games.

On day 1, Wrestler Bajrang Punia gave India the first gold in the Asian Games. His medal came as a sign of relief after the early exit of star wrestler Sushil Kumar on the opening day of the 2018 Asian Games. Bajrang won his maiden gold in the 65 kg event.

After, Deepak Kumar won silver in men’s 10m air rifle event. Lakshay Sheoran took the country’s medal count to 4 by winning silver in the Men’s Trap Event.

His compatriot Manavjit Singh Sandhu missed a bronze medal by a whisker finishing fourth in the medal event.

Indian shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar bagged bronze in the 10 m Air Rifle Mixed Team event. The Indian pair scored 429.9 in the final round to finish on the podium.

On the other hand Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik lost her semi-final against Aisuluu Tynybekova in the 62kg weight class.
