The Nagaland University has been severely hit by recent landslides and incessant rains with cracks surfacing in the hostel buildings and the staff quarters.

Pro vice chancellor of the varsity RC Gupta has blamed poor construction and pathetic drainage system for the crisis. However, the pro vice chancellor said that steps are being taken to prevent any further damage of the buildings.

Besides this, the authorities have also decided to demolish some of the staff quarters which are in bad shape.

The deplorable condition of the infrastructure puts to risk the lives of hundreds of students in the university and the staff accommodated in the quarters.

The deplorable condition of roads leading to the university, especially the boys hostel, has made commuting a difficult task. The PWD authorities, meanwhile, are trying to clear off the road leading to the main boys hostel.

The University authorities are also slated to hold a meeting with the State PWD later today where the road issue will be discussed.
