Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has extended support to the demand of the repatriated Bru families in Mizoram for equal repatriation package along the lines of Tripura.
Addressing a meeting at Congress Bhavan in Aizawl, the state Congress leader said that he had raised the issue before Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a meeting in New Delhi on July 3.
The Chief Minister said he had apprised the Union Home Minister of the fact that depriving the Bru families of Mizoram of equal package might cause dissension and hostility among the Bru refugees of Mizoram.
Lalthanhawla also slammed the Bru families in Tripura for refusing to return to Mizoram as their leaders were gaining personal benefits with the assistance from the centre.
According to the Chief Minister, his government had made repeated appeals to the Bru refugees to return to Mizoram.
