In a significant development into the ongoing NRC publication, the Supreme Court has laid down guidelines asking the Assam government and the NRC authorities to prepare modalities regarding filing of claims and objections.
The Supreme Court has also asked the Centre and the state to ensure transparency during the process of filing claims and objections.
The apex court have also asked the authorities to record statement of individuals whose names have missed out from the final draft NRC besides issuing notifications.
Conducting a regular hearing on NRC, the apex court further maintained that it would keep a close watch on the entire process.
