In a major development regarding the rape case involving AIUDF MLA Nizamuddin Choudhury from Assam’s Algapur constituency, police have arrested the husband of the victim from Guwahati Airport as he was trying to flee to Mumbai.

It has been alleged that the husband was also instrumental in the crime. As per a case registered with the police by the victim, she was raped by Choudhury at Hailakandi circuit house on May 19.

The rape accusations against AIUDF MLA Nizamuddin Choudhury has created sensation in the entire Hailakandi district.

Reacting to the incident, AIUDF held a press meet where they termed the entire episode as a conspiracy against Choudhury. It was alleged that the rape story was falsely cooked up at the behest of a local leader from a rival political party.
