Flood waters of the Khingora river has wreaked havoc in Assam’s Lakhimpur district. The river which is in full spate has inundated vast areas of the district in Naoboicha, Dolohat besides washing away several houses.
Hundreds of people have been displaced in the fresh wave of devastating floods. Meanwhile, flood waters have submerged the National highway 15 disrupting road connectivity.
On the other hand, the Burhikhona river has submerged several areas along the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district’s Moriyoni. A bridge was also washed away in Udaipur cutting off the area from the rest of the state.
The Brahmajan river is also flowing above the danger mark in Gohpur and has submerged several villages under the Kekurijan panchayat. The worst affected areas are Kekurijan, Boga Basti, Tinikonia besides other areas. The authorities have begun rescue operations in the flood affected areas.
