The ULFA-I also alleged that the six rebels backed by the police were on an extortion spree in the Tinsukia district from the past 8 months to malign the rebel group.

The six rebels were also allegedly involved in extortion activities at Lohit, Dibang, Namsai and Changlang districts in Arunachal Pradesh.

Earlier yesterday, Director General of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia said that ULFA-Independent is now facing Internal conflict and dissatisfaction is brewing within the outfit.
