According to an official release, a total of 222 villages in Assam have been severely affected by the fresh wave of floods.

The flood has reached alarming proportions in 5 districts namely- Biswanath, Golaghat, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Karbi Anglong. On the other hand, a total of 1.48 lakh people have been affected due to the floods.

Meanwhile, following incessant rains the water level of the Ranga Nadi in Assam’s Lakhimpur district is on the rise. Moreover, as a result of the release of water by the NEEPCO, a bamboo bridge over the river also got washed away. Vehicular movement also got affected due to flash floods that washed away many roads in the district.
