Assam Police have also detained more than 40 persons so far for posting objectionable content on various social media platforms. Earlier, 17 persons have been detained by the police for circulating rumors across social media platforms. The latest round of arrests has added more persons to the list of arrested.

The persons who have been arrested so far are:

1. Srikanta Saha, Raktim Das, Gaurab Saha, Imran Hussain, Ishfaqul Ahmed and Shahnur Ahmed from Tezpur.
2. Rajib Chetia from Panbesa in Sivasagar district.
3. Anjan Deka from Mangaldai, who is also a former president of the Congress party affiliated NSUI.

Lastly, the Kaki unit president of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Juba Chhatra Parishad, Hiranya Bora was also apprehended by police for posting provocative content on social media.
