Undeterred by the protests by locals, the Indian Air Force has continued to hold its routine drill exercise over Dollungmukh in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kamle district.
Yesterday one such drill exercise left an elderly person named Bini Todum from the Rigyu village seriously injured. The incident took place as the victim was quite close to the firing range of the Air Force where the routine drill exercise was being held.
He was shifted to the General Hospital in state capital Itanagar where he was provided medical attention. Raga constituency’s MLA Tamar Murtem visited the victim and took stock of the victim’s conditions.
The Air Force’s routine drill exercises has met with stiff opposition of the local villagers who have long alleged that its side effects have left them with ailments and other problems.
A memorandum about the matter was also submitted to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman by the local students union during her recent Arunachal Pradesh visit. But drill exercise by the Air Force still continue unabated.
