President Ram Nath Kovind declared the Queen variety of pineapples of Tripura as the state fruit, while attending a function at Agartala on Thursday.

While making the declaration, President Kovind said that it a major step in connecting Tripura with world trade. The President also expressed hope that the Queen pineapple will find a good market in different countries, including neighbouring Bangladesh.

Earlier on Sunday, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for the first time flagged-off the export of “Queen” variety pineapples, known for being juicy and sweet, to Dubai.
