SSA teachers in Nagaland have launched an indefinite strike demanding payment due after 7th Revision of Pay for all teachers in line with regular state government employees.

Over 2 thousand teachers under the banner of SSA Teacher’s Association staged a sit-in protest at the Directorate of School Education demanding payment due after 7th Revision of Pay.

This is their 3rd phase of agitation, the first phase was a Pen down strike that was followed by Boycott of classes. Other demands include salaries of SSA teachers of 2010-2013 batch to be paid from state non-plan budget and release of salary between the month of January and March this year as per the 7th Revision of pay.

President of the association Penthungo Yanthan, speaking exclusively to NorthEast Live earlier in the day informed that mode of protest shall be intensified tomorrow and will continue outside the Chief Ministers official Residence.

However, as per recent developments, tomorrow’s agitation’s venue isn’t confirmed yet as it has come to light that district administration has not granted permission to conduct the protest outside Chief Minister’s residence.

The teachers’ body representative further informed that if the government fails to meet their demands by Saturday the mode of agitation will be intensified further by Monday.
