After the Asom Gana Parishad cleared its stand over a series of news reports that the party had not taken up the Citizenship Bill issue in the Assam Cabinet meeting on Friday, alliance partner of the BJP and AGP, the Bodoland Peoples Front has revealed that the issue was taken up during the cabinet meeting.
BPF leader and minister Pramila Rani Brahma disclosed that the matter was raised by AGP president and agriculture minister Atul Bora, despite the fact that the issue was not included in the list of primary agendas to be discussed during the cabinet meeting.
The BPF also clarified that it cannot stay away from standing with the truth and that the party was concerned with reports that had maligned the stature of the Asom Gana Parishad.
Earlier, a section of reports had stated that the AGP had refrained from raising the matter in the cabinet meeting as speculated at a time when the entire Assam is witnessing stiff opposition to the Bill.
