Meghalaya Home Minister James Sangma has revealed exclusively to Northeast Live that the authorities have accepted almost all the demands of the agitators and hoped the situation would return to normal.

He said the Army is standing by and the ban on the internet data services is still on to prevent rumour mongers from spreading false news. The Home Minister added that peace committees have been formed to ease the situation.

The major demands by the Khasi Students Union has been the arrest of the person in Harijan Colony who had allegedly assaulted a minor, eviction of residents of the colony itself and relocate them elsewhere and immediate release of the arrested youths.

It is not clear whether Home Minister James Sangma meant that his government has accepted all or some of the above demands.
