BJP’s Chabua MLA Binod Hazarika has openly opposed the proposed bill stating that he will quit his post as an MLA if the bill is passed. Addressing a gathering during a Bihu function, Hazarika went on record stating that he would quit as an MLA if the controversial bill sees the light of the day.
The BJP MLA has said that his party and the BJP-led Assam Government is determined for a foreigners free Assam. He said that he and the Assam Government have the same opinion and that is a Bangladeshi-free Assam.
It may be mentioned that an AGP MLA Naren Sonowal had earlier stated that he would resign if the bill is passed.
