A leopard has been killed by a mob of villagers at Ro-roiya in Assam’s Jorhat district.

The mob killed the leopard by surrounding it and killing it with stones and sharp objects. The leopard attacked and injured a person identified as Puneswar Phukan. Phukan has been visiting a relative’s house in the village.

While the local forest authorities were informed, the mob had already killed the leopard before they could arrive at the spot. Currently, the leopard’s dead body has been kept at the office of the Jorhat forest department.
