The state of Sikkim today celebrated Saga Dawa with much grand and pomp. A colorful procession was taken out by the monks and devotees carrying holy tests, portraits and statues

The state of Sikkim today celebrated Saga Dawa with much grand and pomp.

A colorful procession was taken out by the monks and devotees carrying holy tests, portraits and statues of Lord Buddha in Gangtok to mark the festive day.

Regarded as the Triple Blessed Festival, Saga Dawa is considered to be the holiest festivals of the Buddhist and is said to be three fold auspicious as it commemorates Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and salvation from this world.

People offered prayers and burned incense at the Tsuk–La–Khang monastery and other monasteries across the state.

The highlight of Saga Dawa Festival is marked by the procession, in which holy books comprising the teachings of Lord Buddha are carried from Tsuk–La-Khang Monastery through the streets of Gangtok.
