The Dibrugarh police has filed a supplementary charge-sheet in the Assam Public Service Commission cash-for-job scam.
The chargesheet, submitted in a special court, names Kaushik Kalita, Deputy Superintendent of Police of 26 IRBN, Rituraj Gogoi, Revenue Circle Officer of Dhakuakhana, South Salmara, Satyajit Sarkar, Assistant Employment Officer of Majuli, Abhishek Borbora, Inspector of Excise, Rangiya, Barnali Devi, Inspector of Taxes in Nalbari, and Joydev Mahanta, Circle Officer of Bajali.
These officers, had appeared for the combined competitive examination, 2013, and were appointed in 2015. However, they were arrested on March 28 this year after discrepancies were found in their answer scripts, which were seized from the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) office and sent for forensic test.
At least four answer scripts were tampered with in Assam Public Service Commission examinations. It may be mentioned, Kaushik Kalita who was serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police had secured jobs for twenty other in exchange of a hefty sum.
Meanwhile, the tainted former APS officers estranged wife Rupamoni Kalita who is also an accused in the scam has turned approver in the case. The Dibrugarh police will record Rupa Moni’s statements under Section 164 CrPC. Police suspect that she wrote Kalita’s answer scripts and also had collected her handwriting samples.
