As the battle for Ampati bye-election heats up and the National People’s Party is going all out to conquer the Congress fortress, the Congress is fortifying its defenses and are confident that they will emerge victorious and add up to their number and be the single largest party in Meghalaya.
Both the parties NPP and the Congress standing at 20 each in the house of 60, the Ampati battleground will be a deciding factor as to which party will emerge as the single largest party in the state.
The Congress in all likelihood will stake claim to form the government if it emerges victorious as hinted by a few congress legislators soon after the Karnataka political fiasco.
Congress legislator, Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the congress spirit is running high and will retain its stronghold. Lyngdoh said that former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s daughter Miani D Shira will win the Ampati seat.
Meanwhile, NPP Working president, WR Kharlukhi stated that the NPP is going all out to secure a win in the home turf of former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. Kharlukhi said that the Ampati is the seat that the NPP really wants to win and which will make a difference.
