The final few metres work of concreting the Bogibeel Bridge has begun and is likely to be completed within a month.

The bridge is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the end of this year.

The 4.94 km long bridge has already missed several deadlines. The double decker bridge has three lane roads on top and double rail line below.

Earlier in March, construction work on the Bogibeel Bridge was paralysed owing to a clash that broke out between two groups of contracted workers over allotment of duties.

Bogibeel Bridge, India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge on the Brahmaputra connecting Dibrugarh on the south bank to Dhemaji in the north will boost defence logistics along the China border and reduce travel time for rail passengers and road users.
