Union minister of state for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju may have assured that the Centre would not undermine the interests of the indigenous people regarding the Citizenship Bill issue, but protests against the Bill in Assam is still raging on.

Activists of the All Assam Sutia Students Union as a mark of protest shaved off their heads in Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati.

The organisation further warned of intensifying their agitation if the Centre moves ahead with its decision of implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 that provides citizenship to migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan facing alleged religious persecution.
