Rail and road services have been adversely affected following a blockade by hundreds of protesters of the Adivasi community in various parts of Assam.
Two organisations namely the Chengel Abhijan and the Jharkhand Desam Party has called for a nation wide shutdown today demanding Scheduled Tribe status for the Adivasi community.
Protesters blocked rail routes and the national highway 31 at Srirampur near Kokrajhar bordering Assam and West Bengal leaving many stranded.
