NEDA Convener Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday said that after the BJP’s thumping performance in Karnataka, the party will now shift focus to Mizoram and the three other states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh which are going to polls in November this year.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, the Assam finance Minister said local BJP leaders in Mizoram are trying hard to win the ensuing Assembly polls in the State. Sharma said that the BJP’s performance in Karnataka is a testimony of the faith that the country still has in Narendra Modi’s governance and the party wishes to emulate the same success when the four aforementioned states go to polls later this year.
When asked about what strategy will be adopted by the BJP to overthrow the Congress from Mizoram which is now the only northeastern state left under its leadership, Sarma said that it is too early to take a call as he hasn’t visited Mizoram in the last 5 years and the preliminary works there are presently being carried out by the local state unit.
