Assam Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma slammed the so called intellectuals of the state who he said are trying to disrupt the NRC update process.

Dr Sarma said those so called intellectuals who shared the dias with Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Arshad Madani are now trying to create hurdles for the NRC update process by staging various antics like opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Sarma also said that these intellectuals are playing with the future of the people of Assam and trying to de-stabilise the state. He assured that the BJP will never take any step that would hurt the interests of the people of Assam.
