Amidst the ongoing controversy over the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and leaders from various political parties voicing their opinions over the Bill, Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya made a shocking statement in regards to the Citizenship Bill.
The BJP leader made the statement during a discussion over the issue in Northeast Live’s show Northeast Tonight, Bhattacharya made it very clear that had he been the BJP President, he would have given a ‘show cause’ to BJP MP Bijoya Chakravarty and Assam BJP MLA Atul Bora Senior for opposing the Bill and for going beyond the party lines.
The statement comes at a time when the Citizenship Bill is receiving much flak from different political parties across the region.
