One person was killed while 9 others suffered serious injuries after heavy storm lashed Khowai district of Tripura.

Meanwhile, two relief camps have been set up in the district. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb soon rushed to the affected areas and took stock of the situation.

The chief minister also announced a compensation of Rs 6 lakh to the kin of the deceased identified as Harimani Santal, while the injured victims will receive Rs 1 lakh.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms also lashed Goalpara district in Assam. Several houses and business establishments were also damaged with trees uprooted along the National Highway 37 blocking the road.
