The Crime branch of Assam police have busted a spurious drinking water bottling plant at Loko Colony at Pandu, Maligaon in Guwahati late last night.

Acting on a tip off, sleuths of the crime branch seized huge quantity of water containers with a capacity of holding 20 litres of water each.

Two persons identified as Biswajit Das and Tubai Bhowmik were arrested in connection with the case.

The duo were running the illegal trade by encroaching up land owned by the Northeast Frontier railway.

Several incriminating documents were also seized from the duo’s possession.
