Rape horror continues in Assam; 13-year-old gangraped in Kamrup, 5-year-old raped in Kokrajhar and 7-year-old raped in Barpeta

Claims made by the Assam Government of dealing crimes against women in the state with tough hands has fallen flat as three more incidents of minor rapes in the State have come to light in a single day.

A heinous incident of minor gang rape has been reported from the Hekora-Sutabari, a bordering village along the Kamrup and Goalpara district of Assam. Three miscreants who are the neigbours of the victim also tried to kill the victim by throwing her into the river from a bridge.

However, the miscreants failing to do this, abandoned the victim in a nearby jungle. According to reports, the victim was lured by one of the accused promising to marry her who then subsequently raped the victim along with his associates. The miscreants are still absconding.

In another incident a 5-year-old minor was allegedly raped by one Amiya Debnath in the Western Assam district of Kokrajhar. Police have arrested the accused.

Meanwhile, in Assam’s Barpeta district  a 7-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by one Hanif Ali.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident. However, the accused in still on the run.
