As crimes against women in Assam continue to rage on, two new cases of rape and molestation have come to light in the state.

An incident has been reported from Ramdiya in Hajo where a police personnel has been accused of raping a minor girl. Apparently, the girl had earlier eloped with a boy some days ago, but the police managed to bring them both back.

It was while being under police custody at the police station that the girl was allegedly raped by police personnel Binod Chandra Das within the police station premises.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against the police personnel at the Hajo Police station.

On the other hand, another incident has come to light from Tamulpur where a youth tried to attempt rape on a girl.

The girl, who was returning home, was confronted on the way by a youth named Pabitra Sarkar who dragged her to a nearby farm field where he tried to force himself on her.

Upon hearing her hue and cry, the locals came to the rescue and thrashed the youth before handing him over to the police.

On the basis of the FIR filed by the girl’s family, the youth has been produced before a local court which put him under police custody for further questioning.
