The annual border trade between India and China through Nathu La, the frontier post at Sino-Indian border in Sikkim, resumed today with traders hopeful of a full season of business this time.
As scheduled a team of officers and traders, braving inclement weather reached the Sherathang-Nathula Border at 10.00 am today following which Director, Commerce & Industries Department declared the Nathula Border Trade open for the year 2018.
Last year trade had taken place for only 2 weeks due to the Doklam stand-off between India and China. Traders, however, are expecting good business this time round. Border trade at Nathula, one of the three open trading border posts between China and India, was resumed in 2006.
