Tripura’s fairly young Chief Minister Biplab Deb seems to be getting wiser by the day. On Saturday he came up with yet another quotable quote. This time Deb exhorted the State’s educated youth not to run after politicians for government jobs, and rather think of becoming self-employed by setting up ‘paan shops’, milk cows or start various projects under the animal resource sector with bank loans under the Prime Minister’s Mudra scheme.

He said this in Agartala while addressing a seminar organised by Tripura Veterinary Council on the eve of World Veterinary Day. According to Deb, any unemployed youth with a minimum amount of Rs 75 thousand borrowed from the bank and with little effort, can easily earn at least Rs 25,000 every month, but the hurdle in this is the poor work culture that has grown in Tripura during the last 25 years.

During the past fortnight, Chief Minister Deb had been in the news—first for coming out with an exclusive disclosure that the Internet existed from the days of the Mahabharata. Then came the extra-ordinary views from his personal beauty book when he said 1997 Miss World Daina Hayden did not deserve the crown and that only Aishwarya Rai was a true embodiment of Indian beauty.
