Saikia also said the police will conduct workshops and meetings in rural areas on gender sensitization.
The new DGP added that focus will also be on containing the rising number of road accidents in the state. He called for concrete measures to tackle the issue.Stating that the pattern of crimes has changed in Assam with increasing number of robberies being reported, Saikia said there is an urgent need to have a different research wing in place to analyse the pattern of such crimes in order to effectively control them.
He also assured to put a check on human trafficking cases in the state besides controlling the drug menace. Saikia added that even though insurgency is under control in Assam, police operations will continue to ensure complete peace returns to the state. The SPs in the respective districts should have frequent interaction with the personnel to know their problems and work on it, Saikia mentioned.
