From ancient history to health and now beauty and the world of glamour—Tripura’s 46-year-old chief minister Biplab Deb seems to have a view on everything.

He is also fast emerging as the political leader from the Northeast to rake up controversies at the drop of a hat.

Deb’s latest target is 1997 Miss World Diana Hayden, who, he said, should not have got the crown. The BJP leader mentioned, Diana was chosen purely for business reasons by ‘International fashion mafia.”

The Tripura Chief Minister thinks nothing of the global fashion industry hotspot Paris or the cosmetic and international textile industry, describing it as part of ‘marketing mafia gangs”.
