The Chanu Duo of Mirabai Chanu and Sanjita Chanu arrived in Imphal today morning.

After bringing laurels to the nation at the recently concluded Gold Coast Commonwealth Game by winning a gold each in weightlifting.

Mirabai bagged India’s first gold in the 48 Kg weightlifting category at Gold Coast, Australia. Chanu broke six records in six lifts to finish first in the women’s 48 kg with a combined effort of 196 kg to smash her previous career best of 194 kg.

While, Sanjita Chanu won the second gold for the country in women’s 53 kg weightlifting event. Sanjita lifted a total of 192 kg which included a CWG record of 84 kg in the snatch and 108 kg in clean and jerk.
