After Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu decided to reject the notice submitted by the seven opposition parties for a motion to remove Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on Monday, the Congress has decided to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

Soon after Naidu quashed the impeachment notice, Congress leader Kapil Sibal said that the party would move the Supreme Court to challenge the unprecedented, ill-advised and hasty order that had jeopardized the legal system.

Sibal further said that it was an illegal decision as the Chairman had passed the order without a full-fledged inquiry.
