Days after the Chiriyakhana Suraksha Mancha, a local NGO in Guwahati made sensational allegations against the staff of the Assam State Zoo claiming that the staff feasted on deer meat, Chief Conservator of Forests NK Vasu asked the NGO to provide evidence.

The Chiriyakhana Suraksha Mancha had earlier made sensational allegations stating that officials and other staff of Assam State Zoo feast on deer meat inside the Zoo.

The Mancha also claimed that while there were around 1200 deer in the Zoo at one point of time, the number has now come down to mere 400.
