Amid a renewed push by Meghalaya government, environmentalists and activists in the state have demanded that only scientific mining should be allowed in the state taking into account the damage to environment the activity has caused till date.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma along with his cabinet colleagues called on Union Coal Minister Piyush Goyal yesterday to impress on the centre to allow resumption of coal mining in the state.
