A massive rally against NSCN (IM) was taken out by Singpho civil societies in Miao town of Arunachal yesterday.

Singpho Youth Organization in association with Singpho Development Society and Singpho Women’s Organization yesterday took to the roads against the alleged mental harassment of Changlang Zilla Parishad Chairperson Jow-khong Singpho by NSCN (IM) member Dam-thing Tang-khul.

It has also come to light that earlier in the month of December 2016, family members of Jow-khong Singpho were threatened and his house vandalized by NSCN (IM) cadres in Changlang.

Meanwhile, the trio Singpho civil society groups submitted a memorandum to the ADC of Miao district seeking justice for Singpho and his family and also appealed the administration to ensure safety and security of the people of the area.

However, this is not an isolated case or the first time that such an incident took place in the district, rather such kind of criminal activities by armed NSCN (IM) cadres have been taking place in the area unabated for a longer period of time. In many of the times these crimes were not reported because of the fear of the gun.

Significantly, in similar cases many Singpho villagers and businessmen were also being threatened and illegally taxed upon by NSCN (IM) cadres and other underground groups in the past years.
