A Tripura state government employee has been detained by the police for allegedly possessing deer meat. Based on a tip off, police detained two persons on Thursday after they were caught red handed with four kg of venison in their possession.
Of the two persons, Shanti Tripura is an employee with the state agriculture department. The other person has been identified as one Chakfru Mug. They were caught by the police and forest officials when they were trying to carry off the meat in a car.
Authorities stated that the two persons had procured the meat from the tribal people who have encroached the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary in Tripura’s South District.
