Fumed over non-fulfillment of demands for a separate Kamatapur state, the Assam Koch Rajbangshi Students Union blocked the rail route at Salakati station in Kokrajhar affecting movement of trains.

The student organisation is also demanding ST status for the Koch Rajbangshis. Meanwhile, the northeastern frontier railway authorities disclosed that movement of several trains have been controlled at New Jalpaiguri, Bongaigaon and Rangia junction.

However, movement of long distance trains including the premium Rajdhani Express remains unaffected.
