Intensifying the crackdown into the Assam Public Service Commission cash-for-job scam, the Dibrugarh police have arrested five more APS and ACS officers for securing jobs by paying bribes.
Assam government’s drive against corruption got a new momentum after Dibrugarh police arrested five more ACS and APS officials in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission cash for job scam. The arrested officials are : Assam Police Service officer Kaushik Kalita, Assam Civil Service Officer Rituraj Gogoi, ACS officer Satyajit Sarkar, ACS officer Abhishek Borbora and tax inspector Barnali Devi.
Kaushik Kalita is serving as the the deputy superintendent of police of the 26 India Reserve Battalion in South Salmara whereas Rituraj Gogoi is serving as the Circle officer of Dhakuakhana, Satyajit Sarkar is the deputy employment officer in Majuli and Abhishek Borbora who is an officer of the Excise department in Rangia.
Earlier, on February 5 the Dibrugarh police had collected signature samples of 9 ACS and APS officials. Of these nine officers, Abhibhika Barua had turned approver in the case and was suspended from service thereafter.
Meanwhile, three other officials namely ACS officer Joydev Mahanta, ACS officer Khanjan Phukan and ACS officer Debabrata Dey are still evading the police. It may be mentioned that the officials had paid bribes to former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul to secure jobs.
