ULFA-I seems to be upping its activities along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border ahead of the militant outfit’s Raising Day, as suspected ULFA-Independent militants carried out indiscriminate firing near Dirak Gate at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh at around 8 in the evening yesterday.
The incident happened just 500 metres away from the Dirak Check Gate. After firing a few rounds of ammunation the militants fled towards Chitpani.
Meanwhile, tension has gripped the areas adjoining the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border following the incident. Assam-Arunachal Pradesh Police, CRPF and the Army have jointly launched a massive search operation along the border to nab the militants.
