Just a day after the recovery of another IED from Samanda in East Garo Hills, fresh reports are doing the rounds that close to 20 more IEDs still lay planted in the area under Williamnagar constituency.

While East Garo Hills SP said that police are yet to verify the exact numbers, reports suggest that several more IEDs still lay planted in the area, he said.

The IEDs have reportedly been planted around the same area under Williamnagar constituency where NCP candidate Jonathone Sangma died following an IED attack.

Meanwhile, an IED was recovered from Samanda block under Williamnagar by special force 10 commandos of Meghalaya Police yesterday. The IED was later safely disposed of by the bomb squad of the police.

It may be mentioned here that NCP candidate from Williamnagar Jonathone Sangma was killed in an IED blast triggered by suspected GLNA militants in Samanda area under Williamnagar constituency on Sunday evening.
