Just a day after two men were beathen to death by an irate mob at Tezu in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district for raping and murdering a five year old girl, the situation now continues to be tense with section 144 of the CrPC imposed in the town.

The Arunachal Government has ordered a police inquiry into the incident with Chief Minister Pema Khandu directing the DIGP of Eastern Range to conduct the probe and submit his report within a week’s time.

Three policemen, including a woman cop who were on duty at the time of the incident, have also been placed under suspension while the superintendent of Police has been transferred.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khandu also expressed grief and shock over the rape and murder of the minor girl.

Earlier on Monday, a 1000-odd strong mob had stormed the police station after the two rape accused who have been identified as Sanjay Sabor and Jagadish Lohar, were reportedly dragged out of the lock up and paraded naked before being beaten to death.

15 police personnel are also reported to have been injured in the incident. The Army has also been put on standby.
